What Copywriters Actually Do…

Many people who have  never worked with a copywriter want to know: what is it exactly you can do for me? While it’s obvious we copywriters write and execute marketing pieces, that’s just what you see on the surface. There’s one other major thing we do:

Copywriters make your life easier.

As a freelance Copywriter in Atlanta, this is a recurring theme that clients have been reiterating to me. Especially around this time of the year. Whether it’s ghostwriting, uploading and submitting weekly blog posts, writing special reports designed for attracting email subscribers or re-writing stale, embarrassing website copy, clients have expressed that overall, they need to get these projects off their plate…cross lingering tasks off their to-do list…outsource a task that has been put-off for way too long. And just get some much-needed help as they are often overwhelmed with everything that needs to get done.

Helping make my clients’ lives easier is one of the best parts of my job. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to do that for countless clients throughout 2010.

A.I.D.A. – Attention, Interest, Desire, Action. It’s the sequence of psychological reactions you want to use when writing copy

K.I.S.S. – No explanation necessary here

T.A.P. – Do I understand my Topic, my Audience, and my Purpose?

F.A.B. – Features, Advantages and Benefits

A.I.S. – Ass In Seat. This is a bit tongue in cheek, but it’s the only way to truly get your writing done and call it a day
