If you’re a service provider, coach, or consultant, listen up: there is a new emerging trend that is fast displacing traditional coaching and consulting methods. This trend is Digital Coaching.
Digital Coaching is gaining momentum for a number of reasons:
- Clients who truly want and need coaching don’t always have the resources (time and money) to get live, face-to-face coaching
- Service providers and coaches love virtual coaching methods because they can provide this additional service without having to leave their office (and without cloning themselves!)
- The technologies to deliver digital coaching are much more accessible and user-friendly than ever before
Digital coaching is an evolution for any service provider who currently offers (or is thinking of offering) traditional coaching or consulting services.
What Exactly is Digital Coaching?
First, let me tell you what digital coaching is NOT. It is not consulting clients about how to use technology to improve your business (unless that’s the expertise you provide to clients). That is the definition of a digital coach that circulated a few years ago thanks to a post by Seth Godin.
Digital coaching on the other hand, is about providing a virtual consulting service on any topic based upon your existing expertise. It’s all about using the web and a computer to deliver a program or package that you put together.
You’re Not Behind…Yet
Students have been utilizing digital and e-learning instructional methods in the higher learning industry for years now. Digital Coaching has also been used successfully throughout the Internet Marketing world. Now, digital learning is gaining ground in other industries too.
As digital coaching becomes more widely accepted by clients and adoption is spreading quickly, you owe it to yourself – and your business – to at least understand this potential new revenue and business growth source.
Digital Coaching Advantages
The beauty of digital coaching is that you do the work once and then deliver it to many people over and over on autopilot. When you compare that business model to the one where you only get paid when you spend your time with clients, you can readily see that it’s more lucrative than delivering the same product or expertise over and over to one person at a time or in small groups. Digital coaching is an untapped strategy that can significantly increase your revenue.
Coaches become digital coaches because:
- They’re tired of trading dollars for hours
- Their income fluctuates from month to month and they want a supplemental, passive revenue stream
- They want to work smarter, not harder
Think of creating a digital coaching program as the same as creating a book, seminar or educational presentation. Actually, if you have authored a book already, that material is perfect for packaging it up into a digital coaching program.
Learn How to Get Started With Digital Coaching
If you want to learn more about how to get started with Digital Coaching, one of my mentors, Christine Cobb, has come out with a digital coaching program of her own that takes you every step of the way to creating your own program. It’s a course that enables consultants, coaches, trainers, authors and speakers to deliver their expertise to hundreds (or even thousands!) without working harder.
Check out my review of the program, Deliver Digital Coaching, here.

Jenny,
This looks like a godsend for coaches and trainers who want to expand their reach beyond their own city–or timezone!
I know Christine Cobb and she over-delivers in quality (and kindness). I’ll have to check it out – thanks for reviewing it for us.
Cool concept!
Hi Jenny, sounds like a great way for a professional to leverage their knowledge without overextending themselves. I would think anyone who is good at sharing their expertise could take advantage of this concept, not just traditional coaches.
